WSU Seeks Horse Donations

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Washington State University needs a few good horses.

All sound horses two years old or older that have had only limited training are candidates to become a tax deductible donation to the university.

The horses are needed for its Principles of Equine Training classes next fall and spring.

WSU and University of Idaho students in beginning and advanced classes at WSU's Hilltop Stables will train the horses. Students learn the basics of ground handling, clipping, trailer loading, mounting and initial riding and training skills.

In the spring, the horses in the training class are auctioned off at the annual Equine Training Sale. Students prepare and present the horses in the auction.

Proceeds pay for shoeing, feed and veterinary bills for the next year's training horses.

WSU can begin accepting donations immediately. Further information is available from Betsy Greene. You may call her at (509) 335-2881.
