70 Teachers Expected at Science Institute
PULLMAN, Wash. -- Seventy Washington elementary and middle school teachers responsible for teaching science are expected to enroll in two week-long Summer Science Institutes at Washington State University running from July 7-18.
"A lot of teachers are not comfortable teaching science," said Deb Nelson, institute coordinator. "These institutes will provide them with four hands- on curricula that engage students in science inquiry processes."
Topics that will be covered explore food safety and microbiology; watershed and environmental issues; chemicals; and agriculture.
The institutes are sponsored by the WSU departments of animal sciences and human development with funding from the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
