Director of Land Institute to Speak Tuesday at WSU
PULLMAN, Wash. -- Wes Jackson, director and co-founder of The Land Institute, Salina, Kan., will speak on "New Routes for Agriculture" at 5 p.m., Tuesday (Nov. 3) in room C107 of Johnson Hall on the Washington State University Pullman campus.
Founded in 1976, The Land Institute is an environmental, social and agricultural research institute focusing on the ecological and social implications of modern agriculture. Over the past 20 years, institute researchers have been developing a new agricultural system based on the prairie ecosystem.
Jackson received the Pew Conservation Scholars Award in 1990 and a MacArthur Genius Grant in 1992. Life magazine predicted that he would be one of the 100 most important Americans of the 20th century.
The seminar is free and open to the public.
