WSU Beef Information Day to Target Marketing
PULLMAN, Wash. -- "The Changing Beef Market" will be the focus of Washington State University's Beef Information Day scheduled Sept. 24 at Moses Lake.
"The dynamics of marketing in the beef industry are changing rapidly," said Art Linton, WSU Extension beef scientist, "creating opportunities for cow-calf producers to add value to their market.
"We have put together an outstanding group of speakers who have responded to changing beef demand with creative production and marketing programs, both regionally and nationally."
Bill Mies, vice president of national account sales for eMerge Interactive, College Station, Texas, will be the keynote speaker at the event.
Before joining eMerge, Mies taught livestock marketing and feed yard management for 14 years at Texas A&M University. He has served as chair of the marketing task force for the National Cattlemen's Beef Association, as adviser to the Value-Based Marketing Task Force and designed and implemented the Strategic Alliances Demonstration Project for NCBA. The project has been the template for many of the current beef industry alliances.
