Students Wanted to Test New Product for High Blood Pressure

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Washington State University scientists are looking for students to participate in the trial of a new beverage that has the potential for lowering blood pressure.

A team of WSU scientists is ready to begin testing a whey protein-based beverage that has the potential to help people with high blood pressure. WSU students between 18 and 40 years old, with pre-hypertension or hypertension, can earn cash by drinking the beverage daily for six weeks. Details are at www.hws.wsu.edu.

The aim of the study, which has been approved by the WSU Institutional Review Board for human subject participation, is to evaluate the effectiveness of the beverage as a dietary treatment for hypertension.

The Washington Dairy Products Commission is funding the study.
