Sunday's Tri-City Herald quotes Extension educator Tim Waters in an article about growing peanuts in the Columbia Basin.

Wednesday’s Seattle Post Intelligencer carried a front page story on a study finding traces of pesticide residue in the systems of children eating conventionally produced foods but declining when the subjects were switched to organically grown foods.
 
Randy Uhrich, president of the Washington Association of Wheat Growers, wrote an opinion piece that appeared in Friday’s Seattle Post-Intelligencer taking exception with a recent P-I editorial critical of farm bill subsidies.
 
Craig McConnell is quoted in a Sunday Bellingham Herald article about the growth of the nursery industry in Whatcom County.

Economist Shannon Neibergs is quoted in a Sunday Tri-City Herald story on the status of the state’s dairy industry in a year of record high prices.

A Friday article in the Kitsap Sun focuses on a course for training would-be farmers being sponsored by Kitsap County Extension.

A column in Monday’s Everett Herald reported that Snohomish County Master Gardener Marylou Hart was called on to identify a plant in a local restaurant that had bloomed for the first time in 25 years. She identified it as Dracaena fragrans.

Lewis County Extension’s Debbie Burris is quoted in an article in Wednesday’s Centralia Chronicle on making homemade soups and stews, promoting an extension workshop on the topic.

Animal scientist Charles Gaskins is quoted in Thursday’s Vail Daily (Colorado) in an article about Texas-raised Akaushi beef cattle, a variety of Waygu cattle.

Friday's Tricity Herald ran a short piece on AgWeatherNet's addition of a station in Pullman based on Deb Marsh's news release.

In this week’s Capital Press: Agronomist Bill Shillinger is quoted in an article on the start of a three-year trial testing the viability of growing camelina for biofuel stock in the Northwest; Diana Roberts is pictured and Margaret Viebrock quoted in coverage of a recent WSU/OSU-sponsored workshop on estate planning for farmers; and Doug Warnock’s regular column on grazing cites a multi-media presentation on land stewardship co-developed by WSU Extension.
